El Valle coffee morning raises thousands for MABS cancer charity

The El Valle Golf Resort community has once again shown what can be achieved when creativity, compassion and teamwork come together. The latest El Valle Ladies’ Coffee Morning, organised by a remarkable group of local women, has raised an impressive €2,689.75 for MABS, the cancer support foundation that provides vital help to people of all nationalities affected by cancer.

The ladies involved not only hosted a warm and welcoming coffee and cake morning with a wide range of stalls, but also took on the task of designing, creating and printing beautiful 2026 calendars. Filled with images of local scenes, these calendars are hugely popular each year and go a long way to raising vital funds for charity.

MABS offers essential assistance to anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, those supporting a partner through treatment, people coping with bereavement due to cancer and carers in need of respite. The funds raised by the El Valle Ladies will help the organisation continue this important work.

The coffee morning is part of a wider culture of community involvement within the El Valle Golf Society, which has grown to include more than 230 active members. Although the society is built around a shared passion for golf and frequent play on the stunning El Valle course, its ethos extends far beyond the fairways. Members take part in local leagues and regular away days, and they also place great value on giving back to the local area.

One of the society’s most notable charitable achievements is the annual Copa de Tres Dias, a Ryder Cup style event held every September. This year 100 players took part, raising an outstanding €6,600 for the children’s ward at Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia. The generosity of members and supporters continues to provide a significant boost to local causes year after year.

Much of the recent fundraising success can be traced to the work of Tracy Cox, who founded the El Valle Ladies Coffee Group in 2023. For the last three years she has produced the El Valle calendar in support of MABS.

This year, she expanded the project by partnering with Beverley Ellis of La Torre Golf Resort to create the La Torre Calendar, which raised a further €1,700 for the charity.

El Valle Golf Resort opened in 2007 and soon became one of the most prestigious and El Valle Golf Society challenging golf courses in Murcia. It is the venue for numerous Murcian, Spanish and International golf competitions, and has a varied property offering, being popular with both tourists and residential tourists alike.
