ARCHIVED - Groups of up to 10 people will be permitted to meet both in private homes and in public bars from May 11th onwards
ARCHIVED ARTICLE Occupation of restaurant terraces extended to 50% during phase one of de-escalation
Slowly, slowly Spain is starting to move towards a de-escalation of the lockdown and measures announced on the 4th May will go a long way towards making life in lockdown a lot more bearable, allowing residents
to once again drive with families and partners in the same car, enjoy a drink or meal out and to meet with friends and family either in their own home or a restaurant.
Restaurants and bars can open outdoor terraces to 50% capacity from 11th May
Following numerous complaints from hostelry associations that it would be not be economically viable to open with only 30% of external capacity occupied, the government has decided to amend the percentage of the open-air terrace space which can be opened from 11th May onwards from 30 to 50%.
During phase zero of the de-escalation process which begins on May 4th restaurants will be allowed to offer a take-away service providing that food has been pre-ordered and clients remain in the establishment only for sufficient time to collect the pre-prepared food; no food or refreshments may be consumed on the premises.
From May 11th bars and restaurants will be permitted to open, serving clients only on outdoor terraces, with a maximum occupancy of 50% of their external space, not 30% as had been originally announced.
Clients must be 2 metres apart and hygienic measures maintained, although groups of up to 10 people are allowed to meet in public bars and restaurants, providing the 2 metre social distancing rule is observed. The only exceptions are individuals with Covid symptoms or considered to be vulnerable to the virus, ie pregnant women or those with pre-existing medical conditions.
In phase two, scheduled to begin on May 25th, restaurants will be allowed to open internal aras of their premises, currently with a maximum occupancy of 30%.
Tables must be separated by a physical barrier and already some restaurants are reported to be installing screening between tables ready to re-open.
Groups of up to 10 people allowed to meet in private residences
This same group size limit has been set for private reunions taking place in the family home, allowing groups of friends or families to meet in a private dwelling from 11th May onwards within phase one of the de-escalation plan.
Remember: LOCKDOWN MEANS LOCKDOWN. STAY AT HOME. STAY SAFE AND DO YOUR BIT TO REDUCE THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS.
