ARCHIVED - Hospitalisations and ICU admissions stabilise: Murcia Covid update May 3
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Seven Covid-related fatalities have been reported in the Murcia Region in the last 24 hours
Having experienced a slight rebound of infections during the Easter holidays, the health situation in the Region of Murcia has improved considerably over the May long weekend; hospital admissions have once again stabilised and have not changed in a week, and although several Covid-related fatalities were sadly registered, the number of patients being treated in intensive care remains low.
Coronavirus infections
The regional health authorities have registered a total of 302 Covid cases on Monday May 2, a significant reduction on the 932 infections reported the last time the data was made available, on Friday April 29.
This brings the total number of infections in the Region of Murcia since the start of the health crisis to 411,276.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate has shot up to 1,594 cases per 100,000 inhabitants from the 1484 figure registered on Friday.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
There are currently 258 people hospitalised throughout Murcia with Covid, six of whom are being treated in the Region’s ICUs for more serious conditions. These numbers have remained exactly the same over the weekend.
Sadly, the Region has reported seven additional Covid-related fatalities, which brings the overall death toll since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,254.
Nursing homes
The number of infections in residences for the elderly in the Murcia Region has dropped in the last week to 170, which represents a decrease of 40%. Just seven days ago, the number of positive cases registered among care home patients exceeded 300, and so has fallen by more than 130.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.86% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.46% of people are now double jabbed.

Total positives diagnosed in the last 24-hour period: 302
