The project to construct a Paramount licensed theme park in the region of Murcia continues to move ahead with the bureaucratic processes required to bring the project to fruition.

Alhama de Murcia Town hall have announced in the Boletín Oficial de la Región de Murcia dated 16th December,  that the Plan and environmental impact study which must be carried out prior to the construction of a project of this nature is now on public display for 45 days to enable anyone who wishes to consult the report and make comment on it to do so.

This can be viewed in the urbanism deparment of the town Hall at Plaza de la Constitución number 1, Alhama de Murcia or on the official website of the Town hall.( in Spanish)

The Town hall and Premursa are obliged to display a number of documents relating to the project for public scrutiny.

The lengthy Convenio urbanístico of the project details at length the plots of land involved in the project and lays down the terms and agreements under which it will go ahead, including the necessity to carry out an environmental impact study, as well as to provide impact evaluations of both noise pollution and traffic pollution on the municipality of Alhama and the residents of the areas involved in the development of the licensed theme park.

This week the contracts for the purchase of 1.6 million square metres of land for the construction of the theme park are due to be signed, marking a definitive point in the plans to continue with the project, as it necessitates an injection of 15 million euros for the land purchase.

Paramount Licensing clamping down.

The licensing department of Paramount Licensing are also reported to have been in touch with those who have been preparing for the opportunities which will accompany the construction of the licensed park, reminding them that the Paramount name and brand are branded trademarks and that it cannot be used for commercial exploitation other than under license.

This has dealt rather swiftly with some of those seeking to use the Paramount brand name for their own commercial advantage.

There is still confusion within elements of the regional english language press who recently published a piece saying that "Paramount are building a theme park in Alhama " in spite of the wealth of copy written in their native language which makes it quite clear that this is a licensing agreement and that Paramount themselves are not building this theme park in Murcia.

Unfortunately, this misinformation still appears to be influencing one or two property investment businesses who have produced impressively glossy publications informing potential investors in the UK that "Paramount are building a theme park in Murcia" and that now is a good time to invest.

Even with all these preliminary stages in place, there has still been no official confirmation that financing for the full project has been obtained, although every business in the region is hoping that it has,
