Covid safety measures and cleaning at La Quinta Club La Manga club ahead of the reopening July 11th
The La Quinta club re-opens on 11th July at the La Manga Club.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to our fabulous facilities! Don´t forget to book for lunch at the La Solana restaurant as space is limited due to Covid safety measures.
Regular seasonal visitors return to their extended family at the La Quinta multi-ownership club within La Manga Club
Continuity, security and the constant drive to improve attract visitors back to La Quinta Club year after year
The 5-star La Quinta Club in the heart of La Manga Club, the most prestigious resort development in the Costa Cálida, has forged a reputation over the last three decades as one of the finest multi-ownership members clubs in Europe, and is currently able to offer a limited number of new membership deals on both permanent and fixed 4-year term conditions.
La Quinta Club is located in lush tropical gardens on the hillside above the par-47 pitch and putt course of La Manga Club, within easy walking distance of the tennis centre and the shopping malls of Bellaluz, La Plaza and Las Sabinas, and the properties included are luxury air-conditioned linked villas built in the traditional Andalusian style. These villas afford views out across La Manga Club towards the Mar Menor, the largest seawater lagoon in Europe, and those occupying them can enjoy the community’s heated swimming pool with swim-up pool bar, where drinks and snacks are served throughout the day.
La Quinta was first built in 1986, since when the main factor behind its success has been the people – both the Members and the staff who ensure that it runs so smoothly. Indeed, on the occasion of La Quinta’s 30th anniversary mementoes were presented to the staff who had been with us from Day One, namely Laura Sánchez, Domingo Ros, Carmen Abraham, Fina Vicente and Juani García.
During the intervening time La Quinta has consistently promoted staff from within when others have left, usually to retire. Thus, Laura Sánchez became General Manager when Sue Richards retired, Tony Coles was our first Chairman and remains a Member to this day.
La Quinta has always been very much a family-orientated place, and last year there was a “third generation Members’ families” photo-shoot at which staff also joined in, and while in 2018 around 15 families participated more are expected at this year’s repeat event.
To further cater for our younger clients the children’s playground has been completely renovated and pool lifeguards are employed during school holidays and in addition, at the end of 2018, the swimming pool was completely re-tiled.
Over the years many Members have bought villas and apartments elsewhere in La Manga Club, but during the last two years a number of former owners who have sold their property have been taking advantage of our 4-year term fixed membership scheme in order to maintain a foothold in La Manga Club and continue taking advantage of sports discounts: a kind of “downsizing” of the multi-ownership commitment!
We sell our membership weeks in “colour bands” and therefore welcome different types of clientèle at different times of the year. January, February and March are our Yellow Weeks, when typically our retired clients visit for up to 8 weeks at a time to meet up with friends and escape the UK winter. Special winter packages are offered, and these winter visitors have become almost a “club within a club”, playing weekly rounds of golf which culminate in “The Winta Classic” followed by a presentation dinner.
Green Weeks are in spring and autumn, when Members generally come to play golf and tennis and participate in a highly active walking group, although half-term weeks change the dynamic considerably!
Blue Weeks in the late spring and early autumn attract those who enjoy the weather warm but not too hot, and like to visit the Costa Cálida when it is busy but not too crowded.
Red Season is traditional peak season, when families with young (and not so young) children visit during school and college holidays, while many other residents of La Manga Club return to the UK or northern Europe to avoid the hottest time of the year.
Many first memories of La Manga Club include the picturesque setting surrounded by the mountains, the absence of high rise buildings, dancing on the piano at the Piano Bar (that was a while ago now!) and the feeling of safety and security for the children, but nowadays, when regulars are asked what brings them back time and again to La Quinta they reply that it is the continuity. Knowing the staff, meeting other families from all over the world and knowing that the standards that members have come to expect will be maintained and indeed improved: all of these are highly valued. Some members are kind enough to describe La Quinta as their second home.
As part of our efforts to provide continuity and progressive improvements, the outside terrace was recently renovated and in 2015 the freehold of the restaurant, kitchens and allied outside space was purchased. This area has altered many times over the years, appearing in the guises of Chapman’s Marquee and Raffles, and as of May 2016 it re-opened as La Solana Bar & Restaurant, with completely refurbished restaurant, bar and kitchens.
But the most important change was to open the bar and restaurant to the general public, i.e. non-members, allowing everyone a chance to sample the unique atmosphere of La Quinta Club.
Such has been the growth in their reputation that in 2018 & 2019 Cartagena Catering School has sent 3 interns to complete their training, and these were the best in their year in the fields of pastry chef, kitchen chef and front of house Maitre D’.
The menus are top quality throughout the day, opening for breakfast before lunchtime diners can choose between the Menú del Día at and the extensive à la carte lunch menu.
The bar and restaurant have been completely modernised to allow full wheelchair access, complete with wheelchair lift, sliding entrance doors and ramps.
Following all of these upgrades, La Solana is fast becoming the first choice for Community AGMs , Community Dinners, Golf Club Presentations , charity dinners and private functions of all sorts.
In short, to remain at the top in a resort which has on various occasions been named the best golf destination in Europe, La Quinta have worked hard to combine a number of factors in what has proved to be a winning formula, the most appreciated according to members’ opinions being the following:
- Quinta Members return for their holidays because La Quinta is “their” Club.
- Staff and Members are part of an extended family.
- Safety and security are given top priority.
- The weather is usually predictable and invariably better than at home!
- The standards both at La Quinta and throughout La Manga Club remain high.
- La Quinta always looks forward and tries to provide added interest every year!
