ARCHIVED - Paramount Murcia to feature in the FITUR 2011 tourism show next week.
Murcia No Typical 2011
2011-01-12
The Region of Murcia today presented the stand which will be used to promote the Region of Murcia at the FITUR tourism exhibition which opens on the 19th January in Madrid.
The theme is ‘La Región de Murcia es vida y la vida se vive en directo the Region of Murcia is life, live life in real time, is pretty much how that translates, the aim of the stand being to promote the many leisure attractions that the Region has to offer.
This years stand is using interactive TV screens to attract attention and project a distinctive vision of the Region, drawing the visitor into the screens to feel as though they´re part of a real live-time TV presentation. Throughout the show the programmes will vary to ensure that all aspects of the region are covered, from Golf, watersports, cycling and sporting activities, to the natural health spas, the natural beauties of the region, the fiestas and the cultural attractions.
Last years stand used a vibrant colour theme to attract attentin, and this year has followed similar lines, adopting the bold use of colour with central open areas to draw in the visitors.
For the Region, this is an important opportunity to present itself to the world tourism market, and there´s a lot of business done at these fairs, contacts made and initiatives discussed which change the shape of the tourism industry for the future.
Indeed this is where the initial meetings took place to initiate the Paramount Murcia leisure park project.
There are three main offerings being featured throughout the three days;
19th January.
The presentation for the VI Congreso Internacional de Turismo de Salud, 6th International congress for health tourism.
Here in the region we are blessed with hot thermal springs and a history of health tourism which goes back over 2000 years, both the Romans, then the arab invaders enjoying the hot spas which still flow today in the region. At times of low hotel occupancy, spa hotels are still busy, attracting tourists from far and awide to enjoy health tourism. The Congress will utilise the seats on offer in the Region, promoting health tourism in Murcia to a worldwide audience.
20th January
The presentation of the Paramount Murcia project.
This will show the steps taken to date to bring the Paramount project to the region, and will include a presentation showing the history of the Paramount studios organisation and discuss the nature of the project which is to be developed within the Region.
Since November representatives from Paramount have been working in co-ordination with Santa Monica, who have invested 80% of the initial capital into the project, to create a master plan, the design of which is likely to be made public in the late spring, when the search for investors really begins.
The park will be built in Alhama, although as to date there is no firm agreement as to which of the 2 potential sites will ultimately be chosen and will be innovative, ground breaking and focus on new technologies, animation and digital leisure.
21st January
The Region of Murcia will be presenting its candidacy to host the Solheim Cup 2015, the most important womens golf tournament in the world, which could bring between 80 and 150,000 visitors to the region throughout its duration should the Region be successful in its bid.
Previous to this presentation, the filming of the latest film by director Alex de la Iglesia , La Chispa de la Vida which is being filmed in Cartagena for a 7 week period will also be presented.
Throughout the show on the public open days, the murcian folk group Azarbe will be performing and a number of other acts will take place to promote the Cante de las Minas flamenco festival, together with the gastronomy and other facilities the region has to offer.
The stand has a split level design, on 1277 square metres with an upper floor level for professional meetings and hospitality. The Mar Menor has a special dedicated area of 150 metres square in which to promote the Mar Menor as a leisure and sporting destination.
